About Us
New England Research & Development, LLC (NERD) was founded in 2014 by Dr. James Uhlman, not in a garage, but in a dining room. Shortly thereafter Drs. Grant and Marshall opted to become members. Between us we have around 100 years of experience doing basic and applied research in a variety of areas within Fluid Mechanics. Among our sponsors over the years we can include the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Army Research Office (ARO), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Aviation and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Hitachi Corporation, the IBM Corporation, the Caterpillar Corporation and others.
